Shame on the ADL

The Anti-Defamation League has come out against the building of an Islamic center a couple of blocks from Ground Zero because it will hurt the feelings of the survivors of the victims of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Why would it hurt their feelings? The perpetrators of the attacks are said to represent an extreme distortion of true Islam. If so, why this meddling with mainstream Muslims?

The ADL says it exists to fight bigotry. Well, not this time. I finally agree with Paul Krugman: The ADL's position is "Shameful — and stupid."

BTW, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich also oppose the building of the center. Figures.

Just as he does when promoting things involving the Holocaust, Foxman bases his position on consideration for the "feelings" or "emotions" of concerned individuals - in this case, survivors of people killed in 9/11.

If my feelings and the feelings of other libertarians were considered (we're a minority, but a bigger minority than survivors of 9/11 victims), the nearby Freedom Tower would be prohibited also.

To me and to people all over the world, the monstrosity is, like the original buildings, an object demonstration of the government's power to loot the people for what it costs to build the thing and to dispossess the original inhabitants through abuse of eminent domain and other offenses.

That really hurts my feelings - my pocketbook and civil rights, too.

The nacp has expressed a desire not to fly the confederate flag , they feel it is symbol of slavery . I agree with them . Although the civil war was not fought over slavery . It ended slavery , which I think was unconstitutional anyway . Proof that the consitution as not always been followed so religiously .quilbi
